Anyway I got a call from a good friend of mine not to long ago and I was very glad to hear from her. We met a couple of years back when I first started working at Saks Fifth Ave as a counter manager and we click from the start. Her name is Hope Horton and she is a nurse. When I met her she was doing sport medicine. I knew not to long ago that she was looking for a change and when she told me she was now a Medical Aesthetic Nurse Specialist and has opened a medispa with a doctor I was extremely excited. I was feeling her career move because I plan to get my license in aesthetics after I get my degree in business management. So I am very happy for her, she sounds very happy. She tells me that the medispa is new and I responded by letting her know that I would surely put the word out. I trust in her a 100% and know that if she is involved it will be a success. The Medispa is located in Stamford, CT and she is having a Laser & Libations Party! So I wanted to let as many people know to please join her. Back to school just not the school I expected!

OK sorry it has been a while since I posted anything but I am back. So my last post was about me getting my esthetician license. Now I still want that license however I knew that I was going to continue with my degree in Business Management. I already have college credit so it just made more sense to finish with my degree. The great thing about this is that everything is online. I love being a makeup artist it one of the things that make me really happy. Beside my family and friends of course. However, I want to get more into the business side of thing. Combining both of my passion is going to be awesome. There are not to many people that can do what they love. I feel like I am coming to that place in my life where my two passion are coming together. I am now attending the University of Phoenix and loving every second of it. Well that was just a little updated on me and what been going on. It is the fall season and new makeup is upon us I will have to go and see what new and hot things are out ,then give you guys an update. It about time I got out there and see what really going on. Until next time!

Atelier Esthetique

Hello everyone! I been away for awhile but I am back. I have always talk about skin care with my clients and on my blog. In order to have beautiful makeup your skin must be flawless and in order to do this you must take care of your skin. Using makeup to hide imperfection is one of the worst things you can do. So since I love makeup and skin care so much I decided to take my education to the next level. So I have in enrolled in school to become an Estheticians. SInce I am a mom for the second time around I will be going part-time. Atelier Esthetique is the name of this school in NYC. I choose the school because of the flexibility with their schedule. Like I said I am a mom again and that important to me. They have financial aid and I feel this is also very important in these difficult times. Last but not least the school itself, there equipment make you feel as though you are in a spa like setting. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I am very excited for this chapter in my life. I start next month and will keep you up to date on my adventures of becoming an Estheticians. This will help me with my business ventures that I have planned in the future. So come along with with me on my new journey.

How to Make Your Own Face Sugar Scrub!

Hello ladies and gentlemen I know it been away for a while but I am back. I know that we are in some hard economic times and this is the perfect time to save some money. I personally love skin care, I feel that it's one of the most important part of external beauty. Beside my cleanser I love face scrubs. So I said why not show you guys how to make a sugar scrub for your face to save you some money. So to start with your simple scrub you will need these following ingredients: Sugar ,olive oil and almond oil or extract. You can use what ever fragrance extract you like. Some people are allergic to nuts so don't use almond oil if you have this allergy. You can change this to fit your skin type, however this work on all skin types. Yes, even if you have oily skin. Always remember that oil eats oil. So here is the recipe for the scrub.

SUGAR SCRUB
1 CUP OF SUGAR
1/4 OF OLIVE OIL
1 TSP OF ALMOND OIL OR WHATEVER FRAGRANCE YOU PREFER

I hope you like the way this scrub makes your skin feel, I absolutely love it and believe you will too. Please let me know what you think!

This one is for the Fellas!

Ladies and Gentlemen this is a blog that I have been wanting to do for a while and I am just getting around to it today. The reason I am doing this piece is because I want men to know what women really look for. No fellas we do not want a pretty boy well not most of us. We want a well groom man, a man that take care of his appearance. You don't have to take over the mirror and leave us with only 5 minutes to get ready. With that guys one thing I do not like to see is long ,dirty finger nails. You must cut and file your nails , when women see dirty finger nails it's a turn off. Hair is very important as well, moisturize your hair. Also try to get a barber you really like and stick with him. You should not go from barber to barber you can mess your hair line up that way. One thing that I see a lot of is guys washing there faces with bar soap or no soap at all. Fellas this is a no, no please go out and buy a face cleanser. I brought my hubby a KIhle's started kit for his birthday and he absolutely loved it. It came with a face cleanser, moisturizer, bar of soap for the body and shaving cream. Needless to say he has been using it ever since. A well dress man is always sexy, with that said I say to all my fellas out there dress age appropriate. You should not be like 50 with a du-rag NO or 35 wearing skinny jeans!(EVEN THOU I FEEL NO MALES SHOULD WEAR THIS LOOK) I am not saying that you can't be stylish just make it look good for your age. Showers are a must and NEVER overdo colonge you just end up stinking. If you love yourself some colonge three sprays the most. I recommend NO colonge a shower in some great smelling soap will do just fine. Last but not least your shoe game, just like men loves a female with a mean shoe games so do women. We can appreciate a men that appreciate good shoes. Do not get me wrong this does not have to be hard bottoms. This can be some stylish sneakers, or boots. My advice is make sure you always look fresh you don't have to wear all name brand clothes. That can look tacky when you are all name brand down. You can look very good as long as your have a fresh cut, clean nice clothes and some good foot wear. So to all my guys out there I hope this advice help you out somewhat. If you need some more you can always ask.

Vote Today Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier?

So I love Laura Mercier not just because I worked for the company for 3 years. She has great products that I just love. I'v worked for other company's and like her stuff the best. know just like you have your die hard Laura fans your have your die hard Bobbi Brown fans. Working in department store you get to try just about all the makeup brands you can think of. Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown are two companies that people always compare. I must say so myself they are similar brands and at the end of the day it's what you prefer. The cost is roughly the same and so are the colors. Expect I think laura has more of an array of colors but that my opinion. I do like Bobbi's lip tints and there beach bar, it smells so good! The one thing that I can say about Bobbi that Laura need to take a good look at is their array of color foundations. For colored women I must say that Bobbi has Laura beat. Laura however, is trying to get more darker foundation and concealer but she still need to do better with that aspect of things. So on that note I would like you to tell me what do you think by voting. Who do you prefer Laura Mercier or Bobbi Brown? You have until the 26th of this month to vote so please do!

Hair Care Products

Ok so my hairdresser is out of town and I needed to get my hair done. Know I promise myself that I would not let anyone else touch my hair expect for her. I have keep this promise, am I a hairdresser HELL NO. However, I do my best to look good. So I decided to go out and buy some hair products that I have been eyeing. I love products that contain Olive Oil we all know the benefits that Olive Oil can give us. So I went and purchased Olive Oil shampoo and deep conditioner. Along with hot oil treatment that was desperately needed. So I shampoo my hair and put regular conditioner in my hair. I did not use my deep conditioner because I did not want to weight my hair down. I did use the hot oil treatment because it was need for my ends badly. After I wash and conditioner my hair I used the hot oil treatment. I put a cap on and sat under the dryer for about 5 minutes. Once that was over I rinsed the hot oil treatment out and roller set my hair. I was under the dryer for an hour. However, instead of taking the roller out and blow drying my hair I left the roller in for the night. So the next morning I blew my hair out and flat ironed it. Take a look below and see how I did with my hair.......

Beautiful Legends! International Women's Day

Hello ladies today I felt compelled to pay homeage to some great and beautiful women of our day. Since today is International Women's day why not talk about some beauty's that came before us. As a child I always loved watching these lady, seeing how beautiful, glamorous and graceful they were. Their makeup was always flawless, hair perfect, nails did,and clothing fit for the stars. They were ahead of their time. These ladies paved the way for us and had a hard road to travel. I could not image what they must have endured. Being a famous African-American star, they love me on film or on stage. However, I can not use your restroom or eat at the same restaurant as white. We have made a lot of progress since these times yet we still have a long way to go. So on International Women's Day many thanks to all those strong women that came before us. MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT!

Random Advice!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Mine was fine we have been together so long it's just another day with the kids. Since I had my second son I have not been able to do as many face as I use to. Kids can put a hold on your life but it's only temporary. Anyway, I was doing someone face and realize that I had been mistreating my brushes. Now anyone who knows me knows that my brushes are important to me they are my tools. So I looked for all of them and cleaned them very well with my brush cleaner. I use Sephora brush cleaner it's very good and I only paid $14 bucks for it. You can get the spray or the shampoo, personally I have the shampoo. So ladies use brush cleaner for your brushes you will have them longer. So I love a great french manicure but I hate how fast I have to go back and get them re-done. So a couple of months ago while at my job I saw a customer with the most beautiful french manicure I had ever seen. I had to ask her where she got them done. So she proceeded to tell me and said she needed them to be done again. So I was confused because it looked like she just got them done. So I said just that to her, "It look like you just got them done". She replies no they are a permanent french, Now I may be very late but this was the first time I heard of this. I have been doing my nails for years so I was very surprise when I heard this. So I finally decided to get them done and this has been the best money spent. I always said french manicure was sexy and classy. Now I can have them for a longer time with out worrying about them chipping. However, there is a difference between pink & white and white tip manicure. I personally like the white tip french it look more natural. You can check my nails out below. Ladies I am a BIG believer in samples LOL. Never go into a department store without getting a few samples, especially if it for skin care. Do not just buy the product take about two or three samples packets in order to see if your skin will react to it. A good salesperson will contact you in a couple of days to see if everything workout for you. You can get samples on mascara, perfumes, skin care and body products. If they tell you they did not have anymore have them make it for you. They always have samples tubes trust me.... Speaking about mascara a lady always needs a good or great mascara. Now when you are going in to purchase a mascara you want to make sure you know what you are looking for in the mascara. Do you want something to make your lashes look long, have more volume or both. Go in there knowing what you are looking for or you will come out with something that you did not need. Also a great mascara wand make all the difference the formula can be great but if that wand is no good it loses all effectiveness. So this is my random advice for today. You can get most of these product on fifthavecosmetics.com check it out.

Valentine's Day Makeup

Ok ladies so V-Day is a day that you either love or hate. For me I love this day, my anniversary is days away from Valentine's Day so we always put them together. On this day even if you do not have the special someone you can still go out and have a good time. Hopefully you just might meet someone special on this day. Now you should put just as much importance on your makeup wardrobe as your clothing, hair and nails. This day you can do a nice natural look or you can go bold. I personally like the natural look. Especially on this day because you are with your boo and most guys prefer the natural look. V-Day is one day you can compromise with your makeup for your special someone. Now pinks and browns will always work on this day. Try some soft pinks shadows with a little bit of brown to crate a natural look. You can use a soft brown liner instead of black to soften the look. Laura Mercier has a beautiful liner w/sharpener called brown copper and it's only $20. It's soft yet it make your eyes pop. Now for your cheeks you can do a pinky/brown color. You do not want something to pink if your are going for something natural. You can even do a mauve color. Lancome has this cheek color called Aplum it is just Fab...... I recommend this color to almost everyone. Last but not least your lip color. With lip color you can play around with it. So if you want to truly make it natural do a pinky/brownie lipstick or gloss. You can even do a lip stain for the day. Want to go bold what better color then red. However, pick the best red for you. There are so may different reds out there you may end up trying a few before you get the right one. Ok so that my advice on your V-day makeup and of course do not forget your tinted moisturizer, concealer and mascara. You can purchase your makeup needs @ fifthavecometics.com. Have a great Valentine's Day............
Check out the examples below.

Bridal Makeup Does and Don'ts

Hello everyone I am back and I want to talk to you all about bridal makeup. So I was going through some pic of work I did and came across some brides I'v worked on. I thought to myself this would be a good topic to write about. Recently I was watching brideizllas and yes I do catch myself watching this show sometimes. Anyway, as a makeup artist I always look at the makeup of the brides and this one episode catch my attention. Now I must say the bride did look beautiful but the makeup artist took a serious chance with the look she choose. I will say I am not sure who choose the look but it was risky nonetheless. The bride had a smokey eye and most artist will agree with me that this is not a look you chose for a bride. So I want to educated you single and engaged ladies out there about the does and don'ts about bridal makeup.

Does
1 Think about hiring a makeup artist. Everyday makeup is very different from your wedding day needs.
2 Chose your makeup artist wisely. Make sure you have a couple of trials before you chose an artist.
3 If your eyes get red use eye drops a brand you have used before. You don't want any surprise that day.
4 Do get plenty of rest the night before.
5 Do apply under eye concealer and make sure its not to light or dark for your skin tone.
6 Use matte shadows and if you want some shimmer make sure it's use as a hight light under the brow bone.
7 Make sure your eye shadows are blended well.
8 Fill in your brows with a brow pencil (NEVER W/EYELINER)
9 Wear at least two coat of waterproof mascara (this will prevent running)
10 Use a eyelash curler before and after applying mascara. I recommend Laura Mercier it's good and only cost 16 bucks.

Don'ts
1 Wear TOO much eye makeup. You may look like you just been in a fight.
2 Try to be to trendy. Remember you want to look back 20 years from now and still love your look.
3 Experiment with brands and eye shadows you have never tried before. You could have a bad reaction to the product.
4 Wear shiny, frosted or shimmery shadows it will creases easily and reflects light.
5 Forget about your eyebrows
6 Twezze or wax your eyebrow a day or the day of your big day.
7 Wear false lash if they are not 100% comfortable and you are sure they will not fall off.

Now down below is a picture of a bride I did take a look.

Do You Know How To Match Your Foundation Color?

Foundation base is one of the most complicated part of color that I have seen. However, the process is not as complicated as many women make it . Either they wear a base to light or to dark or just wrong the undertone. One of the main mistake I have seen is women testing there foundation on the inner side of their wrist. Ladies this is a BIG NO NO. Put your wrist by your face and look at how different the color is. This is why we as professionals never do this. The best way to test your base foundation is to take three foundation color that is the closest to your skin color. Take the foundation colors and make three stripes at your jaw line which ever one literally disappears into the skin that's the color for you. If none of them work choose the color that was the nearest to your completion and use that color to gage weather you need to go some shades light or darker. Also remember to choose either oil free or regular. Notes Undertone: Primarily Pink, Pink and Yellow, Yellow and Olive and Pink and Yellow. For darker tones yellow or red. I hope this has been helpful remember if you have any question just ask. Don't forget to visit and purchase your beauty needs @ fifthavecosmetice.com.

Don't Forget Your Foundation Primer!

If you read my last blog flawless makeup starts with flawless skin, then you should know your skin type. You should also know what face cleanser to use. So after your face has been cleansed, toned, and moisturized you can start to prep your face for your base and color. Before you can put your foundation base on you must use a primer. Just as a paint primer allows for a smoother finish and long lasting paint a foundation primer does just that for your foundation. As women on the go we don’t have time to reapply our makeup through out the day. Now if you have notice that you are using a primer and your foundation still is wearing off then you may need a heavier moisturizer because your skin is mistaken your primer for a moisturizer. One brand that has in my opinion the best primer in the market is Laura Mercier. Not only is her primer water base which is better for the skin because it mimics the natural water in our bodies it will not cause break outs. Now she also has a variety of primer her regular primer for normal skin type, her oil free for oily or sensitive skin, hydrating for very dry skin and for all those mineral lover out there she has a mineral primer for you as well. So again chose wisely. You skin type is key to chosen the right product for you. For my next blog I will be talking about foundation and how to try to match the right one for you skin tone. Don't forget to visit fifthavecosmetics.com for all your beauty needs.

Flawless Makeup Start With Flawless Skin!

Before you can have flawless makeup you must have flawless skin. So taking care of your skin is highly important. You must cleanse, tone, and moisturize. First step is to cleanse your face. You must pick the right cleanser for your skin type. For example if you have oily skin you want an oil free cleanser or believe it or not an oil cleanser. The reason you want an oil cleaners is because the oils act like Mrs. Pac Man and eat away at the excessive oils. Drink a lot of water this helps oily skin as well. If you have dry skin you want a cream cleanser and normal skin can do a foam or cream cleaners. There are ways to check what your skin type is. First wash your face and lightly pat dry face. Do not put on any moisturizer on for about 3 hours. Press a single piece of tissue to your face and remove it. If there is no oil on the paper and your face does not feel flaky and tight you have normal skin. If there is no oil on the paper and your face feels flaky and tight you have dry skin. If oil comes off your cheeks, forehead and nose you have oily skin. Now if oil comes off on the forehead and nose but not on the cheeks you have combination skin. However, if your skin reacts to new products by becoming itchy, red , inflamed, or it is blotchy and tight then you mostly have sensitive skin. Once you have chosen the right cleanser you can buy a toner. Before I go forward if you are new to having a skin care regime I would advise you to sample every product you buy first. Also sample these products one at a time. This is just in case you are allergic to a product you can pin point which product caused you to have a reaction.
After you have selected a toner you can now go on to your moisturizer. This can be more complex then people think, a moisturizer that to heavy for the skin can cause break out due to the moisturizer being too heavy. Well a moisturizer that is to light for the skin will make the skin dry, dull, and lifeless. There is two type of moisturizer that is for the face and eyes. Now within these two types are many categories for the face and eyes. Lets talk about you face for awhile. You have anti-aging for the more mature women, oil-free for again oily skin, day and night creams as well as ones with SPF (sun protection formula). I will go back to this, you must identify what your skin type is to find the right products for you. However, if you find yourself having a difficult time figuring out what’s your skin type is getting a little help will not hurt you. With this said seek out professional advise. You can go see a licensed Aesthetics or a Dermatologist. As for your eye cream the one is not as complex. You can get an eye cream for anti-aging, puffiness and firmness. There is no cream that will make your dark circle disappear, especially if you have had it all your life. So for now we will use concealer for that and that I will discuss later in a different discussion. Just get some good rest, drink a lot of H20 and no smoking this is very bad for your skin.
