Valentine's Day Makeup

Ok ladies so V-Day is a day that you either love or hate. For me I love this day, my anniversary is days away from Valentine's Day so we always put them together. On this day even if you do not have the special someone you can still go out and have a good time. Hopefully you just might meet someone special on this day. Now you should put just as much importance on your makeup wardrobe as your clothing, hair and nails. This day you can do a nice natural look or you can go bold. I personally like the natural look. Especially on this day because you are with your boo and most guys prefer the natural look. V-Day is one day you can compromise with your makeup for your special someone. Now pinks and browns will always work on this day. Try some soft pinks shadows with a little bit of brown to crate a natural look. You can use a soft brown liner instead of black to soften the look. Laura Mercier has a beautiful liner w/sharpener called brown copper and it's only $20. It's soft yet it make your eyes pop. Now for your cheeks you can do a pinky/brown color. You do not want something to pink if your are going for something natural. You can even do a mauve color. Lancome has this cheek color called Aplum it is just Fab...... I recommend this color to almost everyone. Last but not least your lip color. With lip color you can play around with it. So if you want to truly make it natural do a pinky/brownie lipstick or gloss. You can even do a lip stain for the day. Want to go bold what better color then red. However, pick the best red for you. There are so may different reds out there you may end up trying a few before you get the right one. Ok so that my advice on your V-day makeup and of course do not forget your tinted moisturizer, concealer and mascara. You can purchase your makeup needs @ fifthavecometics.com. Have a great Valentine's Day............

Bridal Makeup Does and Don'ts

Hello everyone I am back and I want to talk to you all about bridal makeup. So I was going through some pic of work I did and came across some brides I'v worked on. I thought to myself this would be a good topic to write about. Recently I was watching brideizllas and yes I do catch myself watching this show sometimes. Anyway, as a makeup artist I always look at the makeup of the brides and this one episode catch my attention. Now I must say the bride did look beautiful but the makeup artist took a serious chance with the look she choose. I will say I am not sure who choose the look but it was risky nonetheless. The bride had a smokey eye and most artist will agree with me that this is not a look you chose for a bride. So I want to educated you single and engaged ladies out there about the does and don'ts about bridal makeup.

Does
1 Think about hiring a makeup artist. Everyday makeup is very different from your wedding day needs.
2 Chose your makeup artist wisely. Make sure you have a couple of trials before you chose an artist.
3 If your eyes get red use eye drops a brand you have used before. You don't want any surprise that day.
4 Do get plenty of rest the night before.
5 Do apply under eye concealer and make sure its not to light or dark for your skin tone.
6 Use matte shadows and if you want some shimmer make sure it's use as a hight light under the brow bone.
7 Make sure your eye shadows are blended well.
8 Fill in your brows with a brow pencil (NEVER W/EYELINER)
9 Wear at least two coat of waterproof mascara (this will prevent running)
10 Use a eyelash curler before and after applying mascara. I recommend Laura Mercier it's good and only cost 16 bucks.

Don'ts
1 Wear TOO much eye makeup. You may look like you just been in a fight.
2 Try to be to trendy. Remember you want to look back 20 years from now and still love your look.
3 Experiment with brands and eye shadows you have never tried before. You could have a bad reaction to the product.
4 Wear shiny, frosted or shimmery shadows it will creases easily and reflects light.
5 Forget about your eyebrows
6 Twezze or wax your eyebrow a day or the day of your big day.
7 Wear false lash if they are not 100% comfortable and you are sure they will not fall off.

Now down below is a picture of a bride I did take a look.

Do You Know How To Match Your Foundation Color?

Foundation base is one of the most complicated part of color that I have seen. However, the process is not as complicated as many women make it . Either they wear a base to light or to dark or just wrong the undertone. One of the main mistake I have seen is women testing there foundation on the inner side of their wrist. Ladies this is a BIG NO NO. Put your wrist by your face and look at how different the color is. This is why we as professionals never do this. The best way to test your base foundation is to take three foundation color that is the closest to your skin color. Take the foundation colors and make three stripes at your jaw line which ever one literally disappears into the skin that's the color for you. If none of them work choose the color that was the nearest to your completion and use that color to gage weather you need to go some shades light or darker. Also remember to choose either oil free or regular. Notes Undertone: Primarily Pink, Pink and Yellow, Yellow and Olive and Pink and Yellow. For darker tones yellow or red. I hope this has been helpful remember if you have any question just ask. Don't forget to visit and purchase your beauty needs @ fifthavecosmetice.com.

Don't Forget Your Foundation Primer!

If you read my last blog flawless makeup starts with flawless skin, then you should know your skin type. You should also know what face cleanser to use. So after your face has been cleansed, toned, and moisturized you can start to prep your face for your base and color. Before you can put your foundation base on you must use a primer. Just as a paint primer allows for a smoother finish and long lasting paint a foundation primer does just that for your foundation. As women on the go we don’t have time to reapply our makeup through out the day. Now if you have notice that you are using a primer and your foundation still is wearing off then you may need a heavier moisturizer because your skin is mistaken your primer for a moisturizer. One brand that has in my opinion the best primer in the market is Laura Mercier. Not only is her primer water base which is better for the skin because it mimics the natural water in our bodies it will not cause break outs. Now she also has a variety of primer her regular primer for normal skin type, her oil free for oily or sensitive skin, hydrating for very dry skin and for all those mineral lover out there she has a mineral primer for you as well. So again chose wisely. You skin type is key to chosen the right product for you. For my next blog I will be talking about foundation and how to try to match the right one for you skin tone. Don't forget to visit fifthavecosmetics.com for all your beauty needs.

Flawless Makeup Start With Flawless Skin!

Before you can have flawless makeup you must have flawless skin. So taking care of your skin is highly important. You must cleanse, tone, and moisturize. First step is to cleanse your face. You must pick the right cleanser for your skin type. For example if you have oily skin you want an oil free cleanser or believe it or not an oil cleanser. The reason you want an oil cleaners is because the oils act like Mrs. Pac Man and eat away at the excessive oils. Drink a lot of water this helps oily skin as well. If you have dry skin you want a cream cleanser and normal skin can do a foam or cream cleaners. There are ways to check what your skin type is. First wash your face and lightly pat dry face. Do not put on any moisturizer on for about 3 hours. Press a single piece of tissue to your face and remove it. If there is no oil on the paper and your face does not feel flaky and tight you have normal skin. If there is no oil on the paper and your face feels flaky and tight you have dry skin. If oil comes off your cheeks, forehead and nose you have oily skin. Now if oil comes off on the forehead and nose but not on the cheeks you have combination skin. However, if your skin reacts to new products by becoming itchy, red , inflamed, or it is blotchy and tight then you mostly have sensitive skin. Once you have chosen the right cleanser you can buy a toner. Before I go forward if you are new to having a skin care regime I would advise you to sample every product you buy first. Also sample these products one at a time. This is just in case you are allergic to a product you can pin point which product caused you to have a reaction.
After you have selected a toner you can now go on to your moisturizer. This can be more complex then people think, a moisturizer that to heavy for the skin can cause break out due to the moisturizer being too heavy. Well a moisturizer that is to light for the skin will make the skin dry, dull, and lifeless. There is two type of moisturizer that is for the face and eyes. Now within these two types are many categories for the face and eyes. Lets talk about you face for awhile. You have anti-aging for the more mature women, oil-free for again oily skin, day and night creams as well as ones with SPF (sun protection formula). I will go back to this, you must identify what your skin type is to find the right products for you. However, if you find yourself having a difficult time figuring out what’s your skin type is getting a little help will not hurt you. With this said seek out professional advise. You can go see a licensed Aesthetics or a Dermatologist. As for your eye cream the one is not as complex. You can get an eye cream for anti-aging, puffiness and firmness. There is no cream that will make your dark circle disappear, especially if you have had it all your life. So for now we will use concealer for that and that I will discuss later in a different discussion. Just get some good rest, drink a lot of H20 and no smoking this is very bad for your skin.
